I do know that many Nissan pickup trucks used a larger Hitachi carb that bolts directly to a EA82 intake manifold, which in turn bolts directly to an EA81. Throttle plate sizes are as follows: EA71/EA81 = 26mm/30mm EA82 = 28mm/32mm Nissan Truck = 30mm/34mm Also Mazda trucks used Nikki carbs that have similar mounting patterns, but I've never test fit one of these. Isuzu trucks use either the large Hitachi, or the Nikki, but I can't remember which. monstaru Posted November 11, 2004 Share Posted November 11, 2004 yeah ,but doesn't the manifold of an ea82 bolt right on the ea81.....?i think that is what he was getting at.i have been looking at carbs alot lately and it seems to me that there are alot of base patterns extremely similiar on the older nissans and toyotas.i even saw an early seventiescorona hatchback...yes i said corona hatchback.....with virtually the same base pattern and hitachi carb on it .even though something just wasn't right about the carb,weird secondary setup on it,i bet it would fit. The larger carbs only bolt up to EA82 intake manifolds because they both use the longer bolt pattern. But an EA82 manifold will bolt onto an EA81 (with a clever trick to get the disty to clear the EA82 thermostat housing). no, it is more than just clearing the dist you have to extend various wires, coolant temp, oil pressure, etc. swap throttle cable bracket remove and plug the bypass line that goes to the t-stat housing, reroute bypass lines remove the tab by said bypass line remove metal on alt bracket mix n' match emissions lines use ea82 upper rad hose, air box and other tidbits trust me, I've done it I did NOT do anything to the dist. quit HIJACKING this thread Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

rol1 Posted November 7, 2005 Share Posted November 7, 2005 I think the hovercraft people with universial hovercraft plans that use a ea81 suggest using a ford escort distributer with regular points so to do away with the more complicated edi. Some of the people who fly Subarus', I'm not sure if its the ea81, 82, or ej, use a 2 barrel rockchester for the increased demand for fuel flying.
