tcspeer
My 2.2 has 273,000 miles on it and is due T-belt chg. My question is how long does the oil pump usually last I have not heard anyone here talk about replacing it.
flash
In the past I replaced the pump on two different cars, both EA82's (1.8L) at approx. 150-175k miles. The reason I did it was beacuase the valves were noisy. The increased oil pressure fixed the problem on the first car but not the second. I think the part cost me about $100 and it was not difficult once the timing belts are out of your way. Maybe it's cheap insurance or a waste of $100. Depends on your outlook on life and the condition of the car. That's my 2 cents.
99obw
IIRC there is a procedure to disassemble and check the condition of the oil pump. Check the manual.
Legacy777
Main thing with the oil pumps is to make sure the seal between it and the block is good, and the backing plate is connected well. If they are good, and clearances are good.....then pump should be fine.
