Damaged Roof Rail Mount, Help Please

Recommended Posts

My wife managed to smash into a low roofed garage with our Thule ski box on the car. The box and the rails, and the mounting brackets were all nicely destroyed. In addition, the middle mounting bracket that holds the side rails to the roof of our 02 Legacy wagon was smashed and disconnected from the rail itself. The rail is still straight and intact.

Does anyone know how I could replace the middle support bracket? Do I have to remove the entire rail? Would the headliner have to come out? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

P.S Hold off on the cracks about my wife, she is already suitably mortified.

My 02 OBW has had water freeze inside the roof rack mounts. Its expanded and split the mounts on three of them. No damage otherwise, and I'm not getting them replaced under warranty since only I can see them and know they are there. Dealer says to replace them, the headliner must come down, and obviously to do that the A and B pillar interior mouldings must be pulled first. Hope you don't have a sunroof, for that may complicate matters more.
