What do you want out of me

Recommended Posts

HI all .

im starting a subaru parts buisness and while a buisness is there to make money. my main goal is to sell oem and quality parts for close to cost. i think its stupid that if you want an OEM clutch cover (pressur plate) for a subaru gl Turbo you have to pay 138.25 when the cost is aroun 50 bucks. thats a big mark up. anyway there are several things i have to do these are them

get the webpage up and going.

find out what products you want.

and then start.

so here is the question what products would you want me to stock please let me know wheather you want oem or genaric and what it fits

example

anyway thanks for looking please let me know what you think

TGW:

I'll betcha you could sell alot of "Head Gasket" kits both Turbo and non, if you could offer them for a fair price. OEM would be ideal, but I'd settle for a premium aftermarket brand. I'm in the market for an EA82 turbo HG kit, BTW

Here's some other things that people seem to want, that are not readily available for the Subes:

good hi quality wire sets

good hi quality brake parts

replacement brake and fuel lines

good hi quality exhaust pipe/kits

timing belt kits

complete engine rebuild kits

radiators & molded hoses

Some of the more common items can be found at the discount stores, so you wouldn't want to mess with them.

good luck, John

Ok - from EA81 land, I would like you to stock:

EA81 oil pump seal kit and gaskets

EA81 Head gaskets

EA81 oil pan gaskets

EA81 valve cover gaskets

EA81 intake manifold gaskets

EA81 OEM PCV valves

EA81 OEM oil filters

EA81 4WD clutch parts

EA81 4WD 4 speed shifter linkage bushings (the ones on the bottom of the shifter, and where it ataches to the shift rod of the tranny

EA81 redline weber carb adaptors, and linkage kits

A source for *cheap* EA81 wheel bearings, ball joints, and tie rod ends would be nice too.....

I'll probably think of more, but that's a start.

After having to find all my rebuild parts from various sources, and the increased shipping coming from more than one place, I would strongly suggest complete rebuild kits.

Also:

Complete oil pumps

maybe a kit that has everything for the "front end of motor job", T-belts, T-belt cover gaskets, cam seals, oil pump reseal set, water pump and hoses, front main seal, am I forgetting everything?

Basically my suggestion is to make complete kits for everything that we do in one job. That way, we don't have to run around getting this part here and that part there, it's all together. Even if it cost a bit more, the time and effort saved would be worth the price.

Also be good to stock hoses such as the PCV hoses ($16-30 bucks a piece at the dealer), vacuum hoses, little coolant hoses for the intake manifolds, that $30 coolant hose with the heat shield that sits under the turbo, turbo and exhaust gaskets, maybe a turbo rebuild kit, waterpump, oil pump...

I'm glad to see you don't want to rip anybody off, but just make sure you don't price yourself out of business. Remember, your time and work are worth something! Plus, if you've got inventory sitting on the shelf, that's money that isn't earning interest in the bank/investment account.

Howzabout new egr and purge control solenoids!

Well First off

thanks for the info as to what you guys need.

i also like the idea of making kits out of things heres a short list of what i think is most important

ea81 everything(all soft seals and head gaskets)

ea82 same thing but broken up into kits more or less

tbelt kit(tbelts, camseal kit, oil pump kit front main, waterpump kit(water pump gasket & outlet oring)

also clutch kit(clutch disk, pressure plate throwout bearing pilot bearing and rear main seal)

also Copper head gaskets

also ej22 and up kits(but thats later)

as for the wheels ill have to think about that it would probably take several grand to do it right.

let me know if you guys come up with anything else

WJM lets talk numbers

thanks guys

here's a couple things to add to the list

OEM CV/DOJ boots and bands

also you may want to look into have a few item avaliable to order at cost. Parts that may not sell in high volume and would just take up shelf space.

Wheel bearings and seals

OEM brake calipers

y-pipes

If I were going to buy parts from one place, I'd want to see common items available, as well, such as fuel, air, oil filters, belts, spark plugs, radiator hoses, caps, etc. Why? Because I live quite a ways from town and I buy most everything via the internet. If I order a "kit" I'd want to stock up on some other common things in order to make the shipping cost more worthwhile. I usually buy discount OEM parts from thepartsbin.com or autopartsgiant.com, and always "fill out" my order with these common items to reach a $50 total order - that's when their free shipping kicks in. Just my 2 cents worth.

Some items I've needed but haven't seen online in the same place as other Subaru parts are:

-small items (like spring that makes the gas door open when you pull the lever inside the car)

-specific vacuum fittings and lines

-decals

-mufflers and cats

-other emission control stuff

I'd even be willing to wait for you to special order some parts to complete my order, if I knew I could get special order parts at close to cost.

Are you sure you want to do this, though? It's a lot of work. And you'll have to work with situations where people get the wrong part and then have to deal with returns. Hopefully, you'll take extra care to make sure people get what they need at a great price, but that's going to take considerable effort.

Wishing you well if you decide to undertake this great challenge. Sincerely, Rick

I second the Motor and Tranny mounts. Those things are impossible to find and they cost a fortune when available.

Also, EA81 complete rebuild kits (rings, pistons, gaskets, etc. . .) and struts. I like the cat-less y-pipe idea too.

This is a great idea, keep us posted!
