Possibly being sprayed or 'boiled' out when driving and blowing back under the car. Though it seem like it would also be on other components.

Have you looked at your coolant level? How long since you had a new rad cap? Any overheating or other probelms lately?

What mileage,history,mods,etc?

I think your engine is prone to external headgasket leaks, exacerbated by cold weather.

Nope, that is the Phase II, he has a Phase I, prone to HG failures between the combustion chamber and cooling jacket.

Has the level in the overflow tank ever risen unexpectedly?

I've never noticed the heater blowing cold. I Don't reallylook at the coolant enough to know if it has risen "suddenly". I do look at it weekly though. I dont know maybe the very beginning of a head gasket leak? It has 79800 miles and never a hg replacement to my knowledge. Trev :(

Check all your components for leaks:

coolant overflow tank

Radiator

Radiator hoses/connections

Thermostat housing

Heater hoses

Freeze plugs

maybe some more?

Look at the front of your timing belt cover to see if there are any drips that would indicate a leaking water pump.

Like the others posters said, leakage can blow along the underbody and drip off later.

Hope it's not the head gaskets

Thank you everyone for your help; it is greatly appreciated. I will get under it soon and hunt down the leak. It's a little icy right now.

How much coolant should the cooling enigine suck back in? It's only taking back like 2 inches out of the overflow. Could this be any indication of a lack of proper vacuum in the system? Trev
