This was my 2nd trip to the 'con, but my 1st in my 4Runner. This was Chucks upteenth time on the con, but his 1st in a Truck & not on a Quad. The both of us tore that trail a new *********************, it was an awesome time!!
Damage Report: NONE!
Fun Report: Through the ROOF!
So our plan of attack was to drive up late Monday afternoon & camp at Loon lake so we can get an early start on Tuesday. So that we did. Chuck met me at my Place in Citrus Heights and from there we left and we were at Loon Lake by 7pm.
We decided to drive up on the slabs and setup camp right before "Gatekeeper" (If you can still call it that).
We set off on the trail at about 8:30am Tuesday morning. Our plan of attack was to make it to Buck Island & Camp there. So onward we go....
We were making great time. It didnt take us long to reach the sluicebox. I had never been to spider lake, so we stopped for a moment so Chuck could give me the ten cent tour. There we ran into a camper with a sick 4runner, and imagine that... it was red as well
After a short stop at Spider we went on our way, next stop Buck Island!
But we didn't make it far before we caught up with these guys,
Turns out these guys drove all the way from Arizona to run the 'con. There was 1 jeep and 5 or 6 Land Rovers. They were all doing a real good job, but just taking things slow. They were nice enough to let us pass...
After that it was smooooth sailing. I dont think we saw another group of people until we reached the lake.
