Ya I have toyed with the idea of building it for offroad but I want it to handle good, so I'll probably only lift it an inch I put grabbers on it so it's about an inch taller just with those. Has anyone jiged up extend control arms and all that?

your probably on it but check

subaru forester.org
or ozfoz.com

both do some nice stuff

id suggest keep stock suspension, widening the track, and trimming the guards.

if you want maybe uprated springs and shcoks but no lifting blocks

For rallyX purposes, you probably won't want to lift it. Just put some fresh, more dirt-ready suspension and steering bits on it.

Also, I'd like to say...
I HATE THAT YOU EAST-COAST PUNKS GET ALL THESE AMAZING DEALS!!!

You might take some ideas from my '97 Impreza (Forester and Impreza are both built on the basic WRX chassis). This is a list of things added or modified to make my Impreza competitive at rallycross events.

Sump guard by Primitive Racing, Tigard, OR
Rear diff guard by Subaru
Rear sway bar from WRX (20mm from a 2002 WRX)
Front sway bar from RS Impreza (19mm)
Front and rear strut bars from craigslist (any brand will do)
JDM 5MT transmission (4.111)
JDM limited slip differential (4.111)
Rear disk brakes from 93 Legacy wagon (via Pull a Part)
Custom stainless steel brakelines
Hankook rally tires from Trackside Motorsports, Portland, OR
AGX shocks/struts by KYB installed by Superior Import Service, Portland, OR
WRX front seats
Whiteline Anti-lift kit from Rallitek, Portland, OR
Scanguage II from Rallitek, Portland, OR
Perfect Power 6 engine management from Rallitek, Portland, OR
Competition Brake pads (front and rear) by Primitive Racing, Tigard, OR

These improvements were certainly not done in a short period of time, but added over the course of three years as time, money, and opportunity allowed.
Good luck with your upgrade.

i know its blasphemy but you could chop it and drop it, mini truck style. im not really a fan but ive seen some sweet lowered fozzies. but then youd have to leave it flat black primer forever:lol:

you would not believe how many running under a $1000 subies there are out here, it's like heaven.

so legacy rear disks aye... how is that swap, strut braces I'm going to make, I also going to work on control arm braces and a skid plate.

Has anyone played with the drive bias in the transmission. anythiing to gain there or just a big whole in the pocket book?

ya mine is a 5spd.

Does all of the impreza suspension pieces bolt up to the forester? Are there any better stock sway bars, say from a wrx maybe, that would fit? I have to admit alot on the forester is diferent from the legy I used to run.
