Thanks and props given to Scoobie Steve.
I finally got my Legacy VF11 - 60 kmi old = real tight.
(60 GWs + S&H - thanks for the tip Steve)

So I have it next to one of my EA82T turbos.
Took a couple picts and will detail the differences in dimension if any one is interested.

Here is the side by side showing the turbine output side,
VF 11 on right.

They are sitting in the same position as they would be installed.
note: because of the waste gate position, the output,
without alterations, is "clocked" as close to normal
as it can be positioned.

The bosses for the connector to the intake hose from the MAF
is the same. As is the opening diameter.

Here the output side is displayed, this is also different from the EA82T
and it has been told will match up with a WRX dump pipe.

The side not shown is the X-over pipe connection, two
mounting holes line up and the third.
as Dennis has noted earlier, is a dremel adjustment (~0.375") from fitting onto the factory X-over flange.

This will be going on my RX along with the 272 higher profile Delta cams,
spider man. my normal intake, dump pipe, WRX IC and new custom X-over, ala Witte's setup.

As always, all comments are welcome and appreciated.

I hope this gives some insight as to the differences in
the two similar but different units.

for the Moosens's sake, I tried to not make it look like a "shop class" photo.

you must be reading my mind. I had a little plan set up just like you laid it out.

well keep us posted I will be doing the same if the RX does not sell soon.

are you using the stock WRX bypass valve?

so you are going to use a stock up pipe?

I would be willing to work on a nice mandrel bent X over/up pipe.
thats what I have in mind for mine.

Nice Skip. Pleiades did a complete teardown of both turbos a while back...i dont remember where that thread went...search time.

Ok, maybe not a thread, but hes got pics somewhere.

Thats quite a collection of Turbos you have there Skip:D Cant wait to hear how this build goes.
Moosey, I think you made a comment a while back when Skip posted a pic pertaining to something(cant recall that far back), and you mentioned it reminded you of a shop class bench.

Yes sir, it came on my IC and I plan to plumb it back into my
MAF to turbo intake pipe.
If you have seen the setup I use,
it looks like this, putting a nipple into the pipe is easy

No I am fabricating one from the jig I got from Witte,
who also provided the idea/parts for the intake pipe.

Way kewl, lets talk about this, I have access to a hyd. bender
but it is not a manrel bender
and am very open to any ideas.

Will, thanks, since you are going the TD04 route it will be an interesting comparision when you have it set up.
Please post pictures.

Rob says it all, it was my alternator/electrical repair bench I believe.

thanks, the kewlest setup is the twin turbo for a Supra,
got them all on the cheap.
One is a Garrett Air Reseach
but mesurements show it a bit smaller than the VF 11.

I am sure your shop is just as interesting,
and alot less crowded with junk

Hey Skip, what is with the trubo in the center of the picture? In the top picture it is dirty and has a small diaphragm for a by pass valve. In the bottom picture it is clean and no diaphragm.

Doc, they are both EA82T IHI RHB5 units,
one was just more "photogenic" on it's output side.

Paul, the evelator buttons are one of the control panels that
operate my home rigged CAP* roll-up garage door opener.

* CAP = Cheap As Possible

Hey Skip

Thats great you got that turbo so cheap. The wrx guys just dont know the value of a vf11. I have been talking to Dennis and he swears the VF11 came on atleast some of the ~220hp JDM legacy engines. There is another dyno day on March 13th at Xotic, it would be cool to see you there, they have a wideband too!!

skip...awesome info.

one request, can you use that micrometer pictured to the left to measure the "wheel" on both turbos?

and as steve noted, i have found some info about the VF11 being used on one incarnation (very early 90s) of the EJ20. as far as i can tell it was employed on one of the early legacys that had an automatic trans. shortly thereafter they popped up on the 2.2L for our USDM turbo legacys.

there was also a VF10 on USDM cars and a VF12 on JDM cars.

I've got the same Turbo to go into my car.

I got it for absolutely nothing. I haven't really looked, but the guy who gave it to me told me it's the VF-12, But i'll know once i clean the grease and crap off it.

I'm gonna make my own manifold and make a custom divorced downpipe.

As far as i can tell...All the coolant/oil fittings appear to be identical. which is good. The clocking of the turbo is different, but that doesn't matter to me much as i'm making complete custom intake pipes, with the intercooler and all that.

Mine should be in the car by the end of next week

Might sound like nitpicking, but these are "specs". :)

imthinking turbos spin faster than 100,000 RPMs...so maybe a '0' is missing...?
