Consider it DONE!

Recommended Posts

Well, after months of planning, talking about it, and brief moments of being engulfed in flames... it's done!

Yes Gary and I are delirious after about 3 days straigt of being in the garage, but I survived... as for Gary, well, see picture 5. It's not been driven yet, but that should happen early next week. For now here's some eye candy.

Intercooler and krap... turbo hiding behind the grille.

mostly the intercooler, ended up using a swift i/c.

and again...

no intake pipe, we're going to see how it runs with just the filter on the turbo inlet.

And like I said... Gary... well he's Gary... propper fcukt.

If the intercooler is the radiator-like device facing up, how does it cool the air? Doesn't it need a stream of cool air blowing through it, to cool the air flowing through the passages? Or is there a cutout in the hood, with electic fan, that isn't shown?

damn that thing looks sick.

I saw a 1988 Justy GL in great condition parked outside the Air Force Base that I work on (clearing trees... aint no GI)

Makes me wanna find out who owns it, cuz it hasnt moved in a month. They got a DWI and the car is just sitting.

How much time was involved with makin that justy turbo'd?

hmm timewise..it was about 2 solid days.

We had to make a manifold and downpipe from scratch,

This also involved cutting the 3/8 plate with a sawzall, and drilling the holes with a hole saw. The manifold flanges needed to be cut, along with the turbo inlet flange.

Then had to screw around with all the pipes, and the collector. Then weld them all up.

I need to do about 2 hrs work, and then i'm gonna fire it up

if that originally had a mass airflow setup i forsee problems with your blow off valve setup

unless you plan on going with a do it yourself or aftermarket fuel injetion ecu that you can tune

other than that good job looks cool i hope it runs as well as it looks

you all are nutts. You know, there is an open road race here in my home town. Twice a year they close the road and run an open speed race, there are several qualifying speed groups, but it is a heck of a good time. People come from Japan with tricked out cars. The race is about 75 miles, the person with the closest time to the millisecond in the speed class wins that class. Wouldn't mind seeing a few of these nasty subies entered in this race. The first and last races listed are the ones that take place here. Someone here has to be nutts enough to give it a try! Let me know.
