Looking around the country for a newer Outback. Seem to be some fairly good deals in the Portland area. Is Oregon a salt/rust problem state?

no salt, no rust. Unless of course you don't wax your car then yeah rust will set in. People say cars on the coast get real rusty, but they still are not nearly as bad as ones in the rust belt.

Yeah PNW is a pretty good place to get a soob, they are cheaper on average and the bodies tend to be in better shape.

Anything on the Oregon coast thats more than a few years old, needs to be looked at Very closely. I've seen coastal cars and trucks that were as bad as any rust belt car. Usually, thou, they are a few years old. Kinda like our subi's.
It may still be safe to buy a vehicle out of the Seattle area. But, those days are numbered. Salt is being used up there every year now.

Thanks for the replies. We are looking all over, but have always wanted to go to the PNW anyway. Would be a nice trip if the price was very right.
