I'm looking to upgrade from 14's to 16's on my Legacy and I was wondering what tire sizes fit well. Tire Rack shows that a 205/50/16 is the same circumference as then stock 185/70/14 but I'm would rather run a 205/55/16 because there are more tires available in that size. Has anyone tried running a 205/55/16 on their 1st gen legacy? If you have were there any problems.

The WRX uses a 205/55 r16 as OEM size. It will fit on the first gen legacies with the correct offset. With the stock WRX wheels, you can have a slight bit of rubbing on the strut. It's not much, however the chance is there. If you run a wheel with a little less offset then +52mm, the chances of rubbing on the strut should go away.
