espey_16 Posted September 13, 2011 Share Posted September 13, 2011 On my dads 91 legacy the front windshield washer pump has 2 wires hanging out of it. 1 is blue with a white stripe, and the other is blue with a red stripe. 89Ru Posted September 13, 2011 Share Posted September 13, 2011 This might seem obvious but one wire will eventually make its way to ground (negative terminal) through the depressed washer switch on the steering column and the other will get 12 volts from a fuse block (FB-x). heartless Posted September 13, 2011 Share Posted September 13, 2011 ok, this is a VERY simplified diagram derived from my 1990 FSM - wire colors can vary obviously. If you have the plug shown in the diagram (located at the pump itself) then you should be able to figure out what goes where. as was already noted - the pump recieves full ground thru the switch, completeing the circuit Hope this helps. heartless Posted September 14, 2011 Share Posted September 14, 2011 assuming that fuse 2 is the correct fuse for the washer pump, then yes, that would be correct. the wire from the switch is the "ground" wire - circuit is normally "open" and completed when the switch is depressed (similar to how the horn works) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
