Where would this go??? Beer tasting at WCSS6

Recommended Posts

OK, since off topic is gone, I guess I'll post this here, it doesn't seem to fit any of the topics we currently have.

Since the beer tasting has been approved, we now need to organize it, if that is what everyone wants. We can throw iot wide open and let anyone bring thier favorite and we can go from there. Or we can put soime sort of organization to it. I need input as to how we should do this. Please limit the input to only those who plan to be there. I'll bring a couple of big bags of pretzels from Costco to clense the pallet better brews.

So the simplest form would be a beer potluck where everyone would just bring enough to share? I could see picking up a couple big bottles of exotics from Greenwood or Ballard markets and dolling it out in shot glasses. I've been wanting to try some more Barley Wines. I once had some Bigfoot BW...very potent but nice.

As for suggestions on a more organized approach. Maybe a sign-up list so we don't have too many duplicates? I guess that way we'd know how many participants and how much to bring.

I like the beer potluck idea, everyone just bring a bunch of different things. If you dont bring any you shouldnt be able to partake (freeloaders arent any fun)

Using shot glasses or dixie cups would be the best way to portion it out I agree (probably would help if each person brought their own glass?)

Mike I like the list thing so we don't get many duplicates unless they are something that I like ( ). As for free loaders, how about this, if you bring something, you're in, if not a couple of bucks will get you in. Proceeded to be contributed to the HP slush fund.

It will be a cold day in Hell (can I say that?) when I drink a micro brew from a dixie cup. Hmm mm.

Are we gonna drink cool ade or beer?

I like the pot luck idea. There will be a beer garden during the day that will move inside during the evening.

i agree with zap on the dixie cup thing for it will not serve justice to any beer nor will plastic cups, yuck. back when i worked in the brewery, we taste tested every friday. on tap or via bottle, each sample was poured into a pitcher and then we poured into our pint glasses. after a few rounds, you won't even need the water to rinse with. start light and go dark.

First off, my idea for a taste contest was not to get drunk drinking beer, it was to sample different brews to see if there was any that I found better then my old standby. Dixie cups work for that. Shot glasses would be better, or small juice glasses, but who is willing to bring them, then clean them afterwards. For those of you who want to slam down a pint, be my guest, but do it at the beer garden.

Eric, there is a small city in Michigan called Hell, and it gets very cold in the winter there.

Hey Speedbump, according to the search function, your post above is your latest post.

Not in August. :brow:

Corky's right, this isn't about getting drunk, just about tasting beer. About being social and getting to know eachother.

We're gonna have some pretty strict gruidelines to keep people from drinking and driving afterwards. May take keys in exchange for entry, may just remind everyone the Sherrif is sitting across the street. And he WILL be.

i may be able to sneak/borrow a decent sized rolling cooler from work ..

to give you a idea fully loaded one weighs about 900 lbs ..

depending on how we pack the ice in it

unloaded its 110-130

think it would be big enough to keep things cold?

  • 2 weeks later...

I got to thinking about this the other day, but I hope that some of our under aged members don't plan on taking part in this event. Since it is an organized event, and you are under age, the event organizers could be arrested for contibuting to the deliquency of a minor. What you do at your camp site is up to you, but at this event, I will be checking ID, if you are under age, I'm going to have to tell you that you can not participate. I hate to be a spoil sport, but I also hate going to jail.
