Can I change distributors from an '84 EA81 to a '82 EA81

I'm putting a new engine into the car, but it has the distributor without the adjustable points. Will the wiring from my 1982 EA81 be able to handle the newer 1984 wiring. Will I have to put my old dizzy back onto the 84 engine. If I can keep the new dizzy, what wiring changes do I have to make.
