Spending some money, need advice on brands and stores...

Recommended Posts

i'm setting out to buy several things for my car in a day or so, need to know whats best and where to buy it...

1)brakes (any performance available any where?)

2)Tires (all 4, 185x70x13, got a 300$ budget to work with on the tires only)

3)Belts, (alternator and ac)

4) hopefully no more...i'll be broke if this goes on much longer

Oh, by the way, i'm driving a 1989 subaru gl wagon, turbo

can i fit the 195's on my same rims? (sorry, i know nothing about tires, this is only the second set i've ever had to buy, the first on this car) so in that case, would it be better to get the wider tires? more rubber on the road?

well, the pads on that last site don't go down to the 89's wich is too bad, the aftermarket for these cars is a total pile of crap, i think we need to start our own usmb subaru performance part manufacturing company, bet we could make alot of money that way:D

but yea, i have access to the dealership pads, at cost, for 50$, so is that going to be a better deal than others, say from bow wow? from what i hear, the oem's are pretty dang good, i havn't had experience iwth them before though, any one on here ever had any?

oh, and tires, what benifits do the 195's bring? if any?

Thanks again,

Dan

I have used factory pads on my daughter's 93 Legacy and they are good. The 195's will fit your rim properily allowing you to run a wider tire ( better handling) and are only .5 inch taller( maybe slightily better ride). The Cooper Classics are around 5.6-inches wide and are a great tire as I have owned a set several years ago, they also have a white letter sport tire (forgot the name) in 195 that is a hair over 6-inchers wide. A 60 series may ride in the center if your rims are the 13x5's that most subs come with. They also make these tires in 185 if you want to stay with the same size.
