OK, I got another bracket racer idea. Would it be a tough job to convert my '85 hatch to rear wheel drive? My thoughts are to take a tranny apart (automatic), leave out the front ring and pinion, differential, etc, and hook up the rear drive so it's permanent, driving through a stock rear diff and driveshaft. Will this work? If this won't work, does anyone have any other ideas? I think it would make a better drag car this way.

i would like to take like wrx motor or something like that and midengine it into a brat with the transaxle towards teh rear so it was rear wheel drive...

i spose if you used a chain box <think monster truck> you could make it awd still but it would be a pain maybe

you could make the hatch midengine with alot of work prolly

I've heard a couple of people with 4WD ECVT Justys that left the car in 4WD instead of changing out ripped-up CV boots...same deal? I don't think it would hurt the car, it'd just click like crazy. But then again the Justy crowd isn't too particular, generally speaking. (The descriptions were on CarTalk and carsurvey.org.) Not too many collectors, yet.

I don't know.

I was trying to find something else and happend to find that.

I didn't read about it because i think doing that to a subaru is like declawing your cat - it's just wrong.:P

Common, it would be fun!

Is it like an 'ol legacy where you can put a fuse in a 2WD fusebox to make it goto 2WD, and when you pull the fuse back out it goes to AWD?

Saw it on a '91? Legacy L wagon 2.2

The best way to do this is to adapt a rear wheel drive tranny to the Subaru engine. What Konrad did would would on the older 4WD on demand type trannies, but not on a Full Time 4WD or an AWD tranny. With so many people out there drag racing FWD cars, and plenty of FWD trannies available, why would you want to go RWD???

the diff, i don't know:evil: , on asphalt it has a more difficult life but in off-road not much, but when i was little wet, and muddy

in order to MOVE the car i had to put in the trunk a 4spd tranny , and a bag of concrete, and couple big rocks,.

other than that great fun,.... take care
