Using the EA82 flywheel on an EA81 engine, you move the timing marks 6*.
0* TDC on the EA81 engine will now read as 6* BTDC on the EA82 flywheel.
hmmm. I don't remember mine being that close....

Shopping for a clutch. I am needing the 4wd clutch that fits EA82. Am I right that this is the 24 spline?
Also heard mention of using XT6 clutch stuff one this swap. Is there much advantage? And which parts would be needed?

i got the napa clutch kit for the ea82 for my car, with the 2.5l swap, its held up great for the last 10k miles since the swaps done.
i think most of the kits for the xt6, xt, ea82 are the same these days.

I should probably do one for now as that it is immediately useful.

The EA81 4WD shifters can be modified to work. That's what was done in my BRAT. It looked completely factory from the inside.

Sweet! Any pictures or point me in the right direction for a writeup or info on what to modify?

I'll play around with it. Can't be too different from the 4 speed. And I'm not scared of cutting and welding.
Gotta track down some metal for the lift. Going about 4 or 5 inches and putting a set of 235 75 15s under there.
Gonna get some butcher paper or something similar and trace out all the decals so I can get them re-made for some day. For now I'll finish eradicating the rust from the body and go with a solid color on the outside.
transmission swap - not worried.
Rust battle - been there. done that.
Lift - just a little cutting and welding.
Convincing the wife to be seen in the car with Ski team graphics - That's the hard part!
