So I have two questions.

1. How did you get the mustache bushings out of the mustache?

2. Where are you in Hamilton? I am ironically in Burlington right now and odd as it sounds I would love to see this?

1. I pressed them out in a press that I have at my house, did all my bushings new oem.

2. Sent you a pm

Simply magnificent Nico! Thanks for showing us just what can be done with these great old cars!

:) thanks !.. Ya it's turning out to be really good for how old styling it has glad you like how it looks so far

:burnout: Nico, you win. You have the coolest Subaru period.

Lol thanks man :) ... It's cool that I found such a perfect car to work with or else it would have never happend

i dont really know what size the wheel is sorry. but i did figure out how to make the horn work perfect.

the inner ring is the horn ring so what i did was make like a big coil spring with some not to thick steel wire. ill have to show you hard for me to explain. wire is all most like coat hanger wind it up like a spring and it works perfect.

AWIC pipes and other bits which is moving along nice and smooth. couple back order stuff which is killing me ! summer is all most done.

Didn't get back to you Nico, it was a busy Friday. But I am headed back to Hamilton/Burlington in middle August so possibly then I could bug ya to see it.

On your mustache bushings were they hard to get out? I got the new bushings but haven't looked at the mustache yet. I am betting a 32 year old Brat will have rusted bushings. Any tips on that - sorry to take away from your thread with my questions.

  • 2 weeks later...

here we have the shifter mount, its a mix of 1986 sway bar bushing rubber and good old fashioned father steal bending and welding. ! lol its so simple but yet feels so right when shifting.

7835141632_785b9e16c8_b.jpg

7835138470_73a2c10354_b.jpg

then we had to fix the rear sway bar mount points, thanks to the great Canadian salt we use for our roads, it destroyed the tabs to hold my mounts.

7835145824_326733d146_b.jpg

way it should look with a tab, but not a hole in the middle !

7835147760_a0b8b9bf67_b.jpg

so once again my father came up with these, we made these tabs which is nice and thick to last 50years. once you weld them over paint and done.

1986 GL-10 Turbo Filter looks way better made then the new style.
7835168482_0b3d710f2b_b.jpg

7835194362_29414a2b7b_b.jpg

so we are pretty much done under the hood, add battery, couple water lines for cooler and done.

7835164792_bc0f2ca34f_b.jpg

7835165810_19863ddfa1_b.jpg

that thing beside the brake master need to be in the car for my heater  control's to work vac system. so i used a new style fuel filter holder  and bolted it up and it works perfect nice and clean.

7835163718_82aeed0c1c_b.jpg

7835162728_06a343331d_b.jpg

and while i was board i cut out the spare cap i have for the Extra S  gear oil i had, and stuck it on the top of the cap for the water cooler.

7835161640_f5ba3b9d6e_b.jpg

as of now we are pretty much ready to start it up but !! tomorrow my  drive shaft shop shaft will be in. then im just waiting on my water  coolers for my intercoolers.

Drive Shaft Shop one piece aluminum prop shaft.

7841185436_82a77c7772_b.jpg

man o man is this thing so light weight. so they told me its 4" inch shorter then a STi shaft. which means even more less weight & 4" inch shorter wheel base.

7842334552_0f77893946_b.jpg

Do you plan on adding any extra chassis bracing? How do you feel the stock chassis will hold up to that kind of power?

next year a will make some bracing, its to late and at this point i want to break it in and get it dialed in.

Again, this thing is awesome. Thanks for sharing this.
