new guy here,

I have been an owner of a 2003 wrx for about 3 years now, and just recently picked up an 84 subaru GL hatch, i believe it is a leon???? i joined to hopefully get some asistance with finding the right motor for the GL as it has none. i am trying to build a 4x4 with ample hill climbing power, so if you have any words of advice where to source parts, engines, help, shops, or what not let me know :) otherwise, on with the search and questions in other threads, thanks and have a nice day!

Welcome To USMB man!
As far as the gl goes, I'd drop an ej22 into it more power than the old engine in it. And not a bad swap :) tons of forms on here about it!

it originally had an ea81 or ea71 engine, 1800, 1600) but if you have the option to build, then you will find the swap recipes all over this forum.

do the ej22 motor and a 5spd dual range with 5 lug swap or redrilled hubs or 6 lug wheels. Lift enough to clear the tires you are using.

Think of the car as a set of legos you can build with from other subarus.
