95 Outback HVAC not changing direction unless dash is smacked

Title sums it up. If I want to change the fan direction in my Outback, I have to give the dash a smack and the direction will change. How can I fix this?

You may have a similar issue as what I had with the first gen Legacy.

I just did this on a 90 legacy it worked great
