Name that part, coolant bypass item

Hey guys, wondering if you could help me out.

Im replacing all of the coolant/heater lines on my EA81, and Im stuck wondering what this thing is...

And if I can run without it.

It is a seperate thermostat for the intake.
I`d leave it on.

Pitch it. You don't need it.

I remove them from all my Weber swaps in addition to blocking the coolant port under the carb. Pull the nipple from the manifold, drill and tap the hole for a set screw.

damn... too late. I kept it, just bolted the intake mani back down. All new hoses and clamps though.

If it fails, If it even fails, Ill pitch it.
