hub re-drill questions

Recommended Posts

I'm brand new here and fairly lost here. I've tried search bar but I don't know what I am looking for. Rather than asking for new info can people post links to useful threads?

I've got a 92 loyale wagon, manual, 4wd.

I am looking for info for redrilling hubs for 6 bolt, specifically on what to do with the rear hubs.

Also, rear disc conversions and what is needed.

Thirdly, looking to buy a 2" lift.

Flame away if needed, but please provide links when doing so.

Thanks

The official 6 lug redrill thread is here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=132536

The disc brake conversion can be found here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49975 and here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53479

And one of the many 2" lift threads can be found here : http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=94629 There are lots of other threads covering this in the offroad section.

Good luck!

you can find most of that stuff in the section called the ultimate subaru repair manual. its just above this forum.

also check the guys in the off road forum. lifts and wheel mods are common for that crowd.

btw - Peugeot made 14 and 15 inch wheels with the stock lug pattern for your car. both alloys and steel. if your just looking for something to get out of 13's and dont already have wheels id check into them. would be much less work.

Welcome aboard! Glad these links have already been posted, otherwise I would have posted them.

Rear disc swap is a bolt on upgrade and is straight forward (As long as you have all the parts)

Backing Plate

Caliper Bracket

Caliper

Wheel Hub/Spindel

Rotor Disc

I have pictures of the disc swap I did on my '83 GL.

The rear disc conversion parts will be found on all Turbo EA82s from 1985-88 (Which is the same bodied car as the Loyale 1985-1994) Also XT Turbo will have rear disc, but do not get the XT and XT6 confused with each other. They are both the same bodied car (Wedge style) but the XT sports a 1.8 EA82 MPFI Flat-4 (Some Turbo, some non-Turbo) and the 4x140 wheels. The XT6 has the ER27 MPFI Flat-6 and 5x100 wheels/hubs. These will not work unless you go with a complete 5-lug swap (Which is a whole other can of worms)

The USRM is a good place to check out, as there are a lot of Retro-fit threads there. But not everything is there.

Feel free to ask questions and enjoy the site!

-Tom
