Guest subarugsr
i have been contemplating whether or not to put an EA82T into my 72' GSR, did subaru bring out a 2WD EA82T model? or how hard is it to convert the 4WD into front wheel? how much differrent would wiring, speedo, tacho etc be? would i be better off putting in an EA82 dash? cheers
Guest subarugsr
sorry, i forgot to ask, were the EA82T fuel injected? SPFI, MPFI or carburetted? thanks again
Guest GlCraigGT
The EA82T is an MPFI Turbo and yes there are 2wd models. But it will be a very tight squeeze to get one in your 72, some cutting may be involved.
Guest subarugsr
yea ive measured the engine bay and it wont fit.. i knew it wouldnt but i do have the capabilities to cut. i have decided to go with an EA71.. hot it up and turbo it... is there anyway i can inject it? if i put MPFI or SPFI in replacement of my carbi's on the manifold? thanks again
Guest GeneralDisorder
Why not do an EA81 Turbo - would save you the headache of trying to turbo an EA71. If you did want to do the EA71 turbo, you would need some type of injection system, and a new manifold for it. Lowering the compression might be a good idea, or just run very light boost. The 71 isn't a whole lot smaller than the 81. The 82 is MUCH bigger due to it's overhead cams. There are 5 speed FWD tranny's all over the place that no one wants, and all you would have to do is figure out the axles. GD
Guest subarugsr
yea if i could i would get an EA81T but they are hard done by over here in new zealand, hard to find and usualy thrashed. but i can get a hold of a total EA71 running gear complete, so im thinking of doing a complete swap.. maybe need to upgreade the brakes. how would i fuel inject it? thanks mate

Guest OH Noah
If you could find EA81T cylinder heads (I know, they're even hard to find here in the US) I think they'd fit on a EA71 block. They have the injector bosses needed for MPFI. Otherwise, you could drill holes in the heads to mount fuel injectors. That's what I was going to do to my EA81 until I found a EA81T. I'm still going to be using CIS fuel injection though, because it's the easiest to install (in my opinion). www.fortunecity.com/silve...baru/1/CIS RAM Engines sells EFI kits too. You might ask them for advice.
Guest subarugsr
what is CIS fuel injection? i was thinking of using SPFI but im not sure if they came to new zealand or not, do u know of any other head other than the EA81T that would fit but would have allowences for MPFI? would SPFI work well on the original manifold? thanks again:)
