The interior handle on the driver's side broke on the inside, so I have to roll the window down to open the door in order to exit the vehicle. Not a huge problem, I've been living with it for a while now. However, this morning, the outer handle on the passenger side broke on the inside of the door, so now it will only open from the inside. So, now I'm only one broken handle away from not being able to either enter or exit the vehicle. I'm paranoid that the other outer handle will break and I won't be able to open the doors from the outside at all. I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so, how did they go about fixing it? I assume the simple answer is take apart the door and replace the broken parts... if I can find replacement parts. (I've had to dismantle car doors before and it is no picnic.) If anyone knows a good place for parts online or a decent scrapyard in the PDX area, that information would be greatly appreciated. I haven't gone to my mechanic yet, but that might be the end result... there is 6 or more ea81 subaru's at the junkyard in boring oregon off 26. the door handles are all the same on the ea81s on the outside. on the inside you will need a hatch, brat, or 2 door sedan. there is 3 hatchbacks there so would be set. my dad has gone there for years so they know hes looking for subies and parts for them. anyway there very fair on prices and can help you if your pulling something big like a motor or tranny. you also could go to pick and pull online and check there inventory. Turns out that the driver side frame rail is completely rusted out so I am starting to part it out. I haven't listed anywhere so I'll give you first dibs on whatever parts you might need.
