Jibs
What kind of screws connect the seats in the back of the brat? What kind of tool do I need to connect these screws. Thanks a lot.
GeneralDisorder
Not sure exactly what your asking - the seats are secured to the metal bracket with normal bolts. The bracket is welded into the bed - to remove it, you will have to grind it out. GD
Jibs
There are some sort of special bolt that connects the seats to the frame. It looks like an inverted hex head. I asked a friend and he said that subaru made them special in order to stop people from stealing them from cars.
RedLance
Could have been some sort of option or only used on later BRAT's My 80 has plain old ordinary bolts holding the seats to the frame. I've had them in and out a couple of different times. Or, maybe a previous owner replaced the original bolts with tamper resistant ones? Do they maybe just need a big allen wrench? Dunno for sure. Qman
The original bolts were a special inverted hex with a dot in the middle. You should be able to get the tool at any tool house or by buying a cheap set of bits at any tool house also. My '85 has the same bolts holding the seats in. ShawnW
Tamperproof Torx is what they call them. Like said above a hardware store will have a small 5-8 bit set for cheap.

Qman
Most do have normal bolts by now. Mine are the first I've seen and Jibs are the second I've heard of.

BobBrumby
It looks like an inverted hex head. You mean an allen key?
Jibs
No its not an allen key. Its kinda like that, but special. Its like an inset allen wrench kinda with teeth things on them.
AKIRA
When I run into things like that I just use a dremel tool to grind a flat-head slot into it. works all the time on those little star and square screws:cool:
