Last thread of the day I promise! I have a 97 Legacy GT sedan....(auto:banghead: ). The car is pretty much stock on engine performance. I have H&R springs, KYB GR-2 struts, Cusco lower arm brace, Super pro steering rack bushings, And I have to install my Catback from a 2004 STi. Do any of you have any tips and or ideas what I should do next? What would you do if you had this car? I just want some ideas, because there is SO much stuff that I want to get.

Free up the air intake next. I haven't really looked at the legacy intakes much, but just removing the intake silencer from the fender and installing a K&N panel filter or the like should net you some decent gains and a pretty cool intake pulse sound as well. If money isn't a big deal, I would go with a complete intake kit.

Well I have the silencer in the fender already out, and I have a cone filter+MAF adaptor. I dont know if I got any power but it amkes the exhaust sound a little deeper when I punch it. Also when its at idle it has a sweet humming sound. I'm thinking of getting a CAI by Injen next month.

Injen CAI = trouble...

first off the way it sits you can easily hydrolock your engine

i know of someone who did this in a 4" deep mud puddle w/that intake..

i dont recommend it.

cone filters/open engine filters on your 4EAT GT arent helping you at all

as a matter of fact, it's hurting your performance if anything.

car LIVES on low end torque! dont rob it of torque by pushing in hot engine air.

i'd recommend either the Cobb intake www.cobbtuning.com

or Ganzflow (if he has a maf friendly one for you)

www.imprezars.com

I had an open / cone crap intake on my 99 4EAT GT and it just killed my car.

other things i'd recommend:

oil cooler

tranny cooler

better struts

18mm rear sway bar

STi engine mounts

STi top mounts

Headers and/or FULL exhaust

let me know if i can help...

i loved my GT...

good luck to you

Subie Gal, I don't have to worry about 4" mud puddles around here. All streets dont really rain bad enough around here that the streets get flooded. How bad does it kill performance? I will hold off on the CAI. I want and need some low end torque. I heard headers and full exhaust will kill my low end torque, so Im in a cross road.

well i dont know who you've been talking to,

but they dont sound too bright.

if headers + exhaust = no torque...

how come every race car on the planet has aftermarket header/exhausts?

seriously.

sucking in hot engine air with a cone filter is not helping your performance.

open engine air intakes on a 4EAT 2.5L NA subaru dont help at all.

been there done that and regretted it.
