Temp Gauge Spiking

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, my 1993 loyale has been acting a little weird the past few days. My temp gauge would spike all the way past the red when I would start the car up first thing in the morning and would stay there even after the car would warm up, after a while it will go down slightly for just a brief second and spike again. Im wondering if it could be the cooling fan switch because I do have a second radiator and it doesn't seem to be turning on or is it just a bad gauge cluster?

Thanks

This may mean there is a ground problem to the engine area. A simple thing you could do is add a temporary ground between the engine and the negative battery post. If the gauge goes back to a normal reading then you have a bad ground somewhere. Cleaning the ground connections may help.
