I just purchased a 86 GL wagon, my 1st ever Soobie. 1.8 carbed, Automatic, A/C, 4WD a real power house! LOL.  but its a time capsule, 1 owner, he passed away in December, 30,140. original miles. and every receipt, invoice, and note. from the salesman when he bought it,  to the day he passed. I bought it cause it was cheap, but I have to admit the little car is winning me over.

Welcome to USMB, motomatt.  You're gonna' love this place.  Of course your car is winning you over--it's a Winner!  Great little car and it looks like you found a real jewel.  Take good care of that Li'l Red Wagon . . . and enjoy!

Welcome! Glad you found our community, really great place here.

What a gem you've got there, 30k original? Wow. I picked our two up with 46k and 52k respectively.

Just so you know, if it's got the push-button 4wd system, the auto tranny is a 3-speed. Don't get worried when you hop on the highway and the engine is revving at 4,000 rpms when you're doing 65. That's normal. Check all your fluids. Oil, tranny, gear, brake, coolant, etc. It may only have 30k miles on it but there's a chance some of those fluids have been in there for 25 years now. Never hurts.

NGK plugs and wires are the best things you can put on that engine.

Just wait till winter when you gotta get somewhere in some thick snow!

thanks for the warm welcome. there are receipts from the dealer for every service. including timing belts in 09.  so it was well, well, WELL maintained. and honestly. I moved to NC from NY to get away from heavy snow! so let's hope we never have to test that function
