moosens
Take the air cleaner housing off and inspect the tiny rubber boot on the accelerator pump which sits atop your carburetor. Right up front. Has a lever attached with a pin retainer. Could be something else but that is a current problem for a couple of us with old carbs.
bendecker
While you are at it, look for a leaky butterfly valve. That's where mine recently started to stink. Gas was dribbling out the side of the carb through the worn-out bushing.

spazomatic
Does it start to act up as well? Or just the smell of fuel?
