dave833
The auto trans on my '92 Legacy SS turbo seems to be going out. I'm not in a position to do a 5-speed conversion right now, but I have a chance to pick up a low-mileage auto trans from a non-turbo '92 for cheap. Does anyone know how the gearing compares, or how it might change the driving experience? I believe the final drive ratio is the same at 3.90. Thanks. MilesFox
I would say the difference i the final gear and perhaps the tcu programming, or just the input from the engine (load, rpm, etc) regardless. Sorry i don't have a specific answer on this one. A n/a trans should be a 4.11 gear but do a search to make sure.
NorthWet
The individual gear ratios I can't help you with. The internal differences, other than final drive ratio, mostly has to do with number and thickness of friction plates.
shortysayhi
Im pretty sure that the SS has a beefier trans (to handle more power and abuse) than the normal 2.2. There shouldn't be a issue that i see, except for the Final drive.
mikaleda
Don't the turbo transmissions have a differant stub spline count?
Gloyale
You will need the non-turbo ECU as well I it will act up/shift weird times. 92-94 legacy autos were all 3.
