MTSuby Posted June 26, 2013 Share Posted June 26, 2013 (edited) Wagon. I know this has been covered a bit, but I'm still confused...What is a stock replacement for the front and back? It's pretty confusing online. I have too many projects...I know Toyota trucks but not Subarus. I don't know if I have the motivation to get into a search for shocks/struts and then research and find the time to figure out how to put them on myself. But the shop I use quoted me $900+ to replace them! I can probably find the shocks cheaper than them, but that's fine. But their book is saying 4 hours labor for the rear shocks. Basically with their quote, I'm at $600 labor. That is NOT happening. So I guess I'm wondering what other people have used, that fits like stock, for the front and back. And if they had someone do the work, what kind of price they paid. I would just ignore it...but the suspension is pretty bad. Not quite dangerous, but pretty damn sloppy. Thanks! drake13 Posted June 26, 2013 Share Posted June 26, 2013 When I was working on my rear wheel bearing it took 20 minutes from car parked to shocks off... 4 hours is way to long. If there's a stuck bolt add 5 - 10 minutes to heat said bolt. IIRC it's like...3 bolts. Two at the top, one a the bottom. Tell the shop that and then tell them to go do something to themselves.KYB GR/2s (I think they are called) are the OEM replacement I believe. MTSuby Posted July 9, 2013 Author Share Posted July 9, 2013 I'm back. So, front's went on no problem. The rears are about 1/2 to 1" too short. From Rock Auto, I got ones for a 4wd sedan, because that's all I could find. I'm looking on auto parts warehouse right now, and see a KYB shock that says, in some places but not others on their site...that it fits 4wd sedan AND 4wd wagon. Same part number as what I ordered from Rock Auto, which was too short. But the more I look, I find NO products that say they fit a 4wd Loyale Wagon rear. How do I find something that'll fit my car?? ivantruckman Posted October 5, 2015 Share Posted October 5, 2015 I removed my struts and brought them to my local spring shop and they disassembled them for me, the rear are called shocks but they are actually struts . the dia is so small I just had them do it . it cost 30 dollars to have done . then I reinstalled them myself. I would use only kyb gr2 (gas strut) front and rear , any other brand is junk and you will have to re do them in a year or less. I found out the hard way with Gabriel , they suck bad .
