simple 2x rear disc swap ?

Recommended Posts

I bet they did on some of their rally cars - that's probably why the discs are the same. The EA82 likely inherited something that was only a race or rally part (or JDM?) for EA81's. Just speculation, but it explains why they bolt up the same, even tho EA82's have radically different rear suspensions....

I just put rear discs on my 83 brat yesterday! it's easy. you need calipers and rotors (and new pads, and turn the rotors perhaps), backing plates, and hard lines. the hard lines you need are the ones off the soft hose on the caliper that run 8 inches up the rear control arm. the hard part if you're junkyarding will be finding soft lines that aren't cut.

It sounds like you might have skipped getting the hard lines. Good parts stores have bulk hard line; take a caliper with you to make sure the fittings are the right size, and get a line that's about 8 inches long. You can bend it gently by hand to tailor the shape, just don't kink it. good luck.

no, i dont have the hard lines. im going to be doing this tomorrow nite, about 12 hours before i leave for the midwest meet. hope its as easy as it sounds. about 8 inches long huh? the drums must have longer soft lines than the discs?

i have all the soft lines, and the bearings are newly greases, with no rust, its a great setup i got from carfreak85? i think is his name.
