check engine light on 96 Legacy 2.2 ?

I replaced the HG's on my wife's EJ22 and it runs good but now the cel is on all the time. Can I get rid of it by removing the negative battery cable for a couple minutes to allow the CPU to clear any codes?

i think 30 minutes will do it, but why not leave it off over night to be sure.


but what is the code?

you probably left something unplugged.

the code might tell you what.


when it comes back have it read at the parts store.

Double check anything you unplugged during the work. Front O2 sensor plug is easy to leave unhooked after you put the exhaust back on.

15 minutes worked fine. No more cel on. :)
