applegump Posted April 21, 2004 Share Posted April 21, 2004 With the hot months coming and having arrived on certain days, I've realised that my AC doesn't work. I had the system refilled last fall (so I doubt it needs refrigerant) so it hasn't been warm enough to check if it works properly. Anyway, there is no cool air coming from the vents, even after 5 minutes of operation. I've also noticed that when I turn the AC on, there is no engine rpm change, is this normal? Shouldn't the engine experience a short fall in rpm due to the extra load? Any suggestions where I should start to look? Thanks. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Markus Posted April 22, 2004 Share Posted April 22, 2004 I also have a 90 LS AWD. My Air did not blow cold last year and I need to fill it (I assume) due to no cold air. Tiny Clark Posted April 22, 2004 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Make sure your compressor clutch is engaging when you turn the A/C switch on. If it isn't engaging, there could be several reasons for it. Markus Posted April 25, 2004 Share Posted April 25, 2004 I was wondering what freon type was used. Older Subarus probably used the R12 and you can't get that anymore.
