Hello,

I'm trying to remove the automatic shifter knob, but I'm not sure how.

I have removed the 2 screws from the shaft, but all that does is allow me to move it up and down about a centimeter and twist it a little bit.

Is there something else I need to remove/loosen to get it to come off, or do I just need to apply the right amount of force at the right spot?

I don't want to guess wrong and damage something.

Forgot to mention...it is for a 2000 Impreza.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, I got it off.

After removing the 2 screws on the shaft, you have to pull out a metal pin on the bottom of the button. Then you can pull the button off with a little bit of force.

Unfortunately, the reason I wanted to remove it was to replace it with the MOMO auto knob but it is a push down mechanism whereas the subaru shifter is a pull up.

I wish I had known that before. Live and learn.

Thanks.
