Well it's a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback showing you her good side (bit of rust around passenger rear wheel well).
What I've done to Suby (the nickname I gave her one day while trying to coax better millage out of my gas warning light) in the 2 years since we came together:

  • Fixed the spedo and odometor sensor (when I first purchased it I had to rely on my smartphone and speedo app, good thing it's average range was almost always 3-6 feet. I still trust that app more than my speedo suspect it of being off by 1-2 mph.)
  • New rear strut's while the mechenic was at the speedo issue
  • I personaly did the break's on it. (abs light is on now but that is related to the next thing.)
  • Personaly rebuilt the front end. New ball joints, wheel berrings, struts, and tie rod ends, and removed the useless roof rack to whitch I did not recive the key when purchesed. Also decided to break the ring for the abs sensor (lol new Issue).
  • Replaced all 4 tires after I noticed a valve stem had almost broke off after driving all over Timbuk-tu for work. Also front and rear tires were not the same make for model. I opted forPirelli P4 Four Seasons, based off of their reasonable price combined with the massive 85k mile warranty. (I do plan I having this car for quite some time despite what my father and I have came to the consensus of for actual millage. We belive it had over 200k on it when I first purchased it 2 years ago.)
  • The Black Friday of the same year as new tires granted Minnesota a strange taste of winter. It started to rain Thanksgiving eve and then turned into a decent dusting of snow by mid morning. Being the biggest shopping day of the year I promptly decided to head out on the icy and snow covered roads with only one goal. No not christmas shopping, but to pay my cell phone bill at a store about 6 miles from home. On my way there I decided that AWD could handle a snappy late break/almost slide through the stop sign/downhill left turn at a 4 way intercetion. Quickly I paid the price for my selfish desirre to continue to have up to date phone service with a badly bent rear passenger rim. My favorite tire shop said they could straigten out the rim but it wouldn't ever be perfect again. Since I had such a massive warranty on my tires I endevered to find a replacement rime with no luck. After coming to the realization that most (IF NOT ALL) the world is on sale on Black Friday, and with the coaxing of the shops manager by waiving all shop fees since my recent tire purchase, and mention of the fact that they were on sale and had a rebate card, splurged. I gave myslef the early present of Konig Zero-In. Granted they wern't the golden OZ racing copycatting a WRX I had hoped to get BUT A MAN CAN ALWAYS PLASTI DIP CAN'T HE?
  • And currently putting the parts together to replace my worn out clutch that recently decided when it's nice and warmed up that I don't really need first gear and ocasionly reverse as well. (Suby is a strange Dom.)

  • Future plans include replacing rusted hitch addaptor, tinting windows, removing radio antenna, and the small rails that run inbetween the rack rails and fix any related rust.
