what is the max lift for 2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5i?

I have this serious question because i off roaded my legacy in big bend's trials this past winter...the ground clearance was so low that the bottom got several hard hits. i saw a couple of minor dents on the frame parts that protect the engine oil pan. other than that, did not notice larger issues. I do not think i will get a jeep grand cherokee, xterra  or 4runner... lots of reasons. biggest one is that my wife and i both love our legacy. second, we dont have budget for a third off road truck!

so, i hope to lift it! current ground clearance is only 5.7". I know grand cherokee can get as high as 10.8". not saying i want 10.8. but just curious the max lift legacy can get without getting tooooooo much trouble?

Thanks! :)

It wouldn't be too hard to lift it to outback specs using outback parts, that will bring your ground clearance up to around 8", then you can add bigger tires to go up from there as well.

You or someone else could fabricate a lift for it,but it would essentially be a body lift-IE spacing axles, crossmembers, engine and transmission away from the body for more clearance for bigger tires. As far as one of those lifts go you could go as high as you want assuming you design and brace the lift for that height. Realistically a 6" lift is about the max before you have to re-engineer the car.

The first suggestion directly improves ground clearance, while the second one allows bigger tires to be fitted to gain the ground clearance.

uberoo knows his stuff, he could build it!!!  i'll say it this way:

get outback bits in it and then add a 2" or 3" lift kit.

SJR and Highguys makes lift kits for older models...the fronts will work on yours, uncertain about the rear.

High Guys has a 6" for '09 Legacy. Talk to GLoyale and see if he has one for your car.

Not yet for the 2011

I don't have a test vehichle to make measurements from......also, the new way the front arms are mounted to the body makes the front end lift alot more complicated....I''d need a rig to work with for a while.

Best I could tell the OP is to add Outback struts/springs...should be simple bolt in.
