Will Impreza rear struts fit on a 1996 Legacy sedan rear?

1996 legacy sedan with bad struts.

I have a set of 1997 Impreza Outback Sport rear struts (though I think they're from a later generation impreza or WRX struts).

Can I install the legacy springs and tophats on the impreza struts.

Yes you can, that's one variation I've ran on my car for a while.
