97 legacy obw

My 97 legacy obw has the ej25d motor and is now knocking quite noticably what would be the best approach to fix rebuild or swap out

Rebuild 1500 - 2500

Swap in a 95-98 2.2 used motor 400-500

Will the 2.2 mate up to my wiring and trans/ clutch?
