I'm still 100% sure that it is not the exhaust. I will check the mounts but I think I am leaning towards a bearing going out.

Think I fixed mine !Think it has been there for years as I now recall thinking it may have been the 5MT shifters so close to the tail shaft, my cruise control magnet bracket hitting something .... found a grease nipple on the front uni of the EA82 two piece, borrowed my mates grease gun which he fills with all his aged, falling out of suspension mixes of grease and gave the nipple a pink grease up until squished out from the cups. 1 noise gone !!

Next is screws in Y pipe !!I

I think I was lucky to find the nippled uni joint, must have been replaced at some stage before I got it from the wrecker as a conversion deal.

More than likely the rear shaft ujoint or carrier bearing.  I've had this a couple times with no indication of wear.  Find someone that has a complete shaft.  I bought one from a guy here before.  I'd be very surprised if it were something else.

If there are no grease points to be found on your joints, odds are you are running the original factory installed joints. Get them replaced with new, all the new ones come with grease zerks.

Looks like that's my only option if I want to get rid of this horrible ringing. I cut the cat out today so that the exhaust would drown it out.
