Whoa my timing notches are on opposite sides!

take a look at these links.

make sure you are usuing thre correct marks.

when the cam HASH marks are straight up in the 12 o'clock position,

crank hash mark (on the rear flange / tab of the sprocket) is also in the 12 o'clock position.

(the crank key way is straight down in the 6 o'clock position.)

year?

model?

engine?

trans?

miles?

That's the keyway.

 

The mark is on the pulley....on one of the little ears on the back.

 

If the keyway is straight down the mark should be straight up...Timing sounds correct by what you describe.

 

Something else is the miss.
