Sad news to report

Recommended Posts

A long time board member, Edrach, Ed Rachner has pass on. His fight against cancer finally came to an end. He left us late Saturday evening. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne and 3 son's, Eric, Paul and James. And also by Paul's two Daughters. Not to mention his extensive family and friends. Any who knew him will vouch for his integrity, willingness to help anyone. And his all around niceness. He touched many of us and will be missed.

Qman

Ken, (Ed's friend)

What a wonderful man.  I never met him face to face but he helped me many times. His caring and sincerity will live on, in a small way, right here on the board.  My warmest condolences to the family.

Me ke Aloha Pumehana, Ed.  Rest in Peace.

That's really sad.  Ed helped me out with advice a lot here.  I only met him once in person.  I think I sold him a set of rear disc brakes.  He picked them up at my place, and we ended up talking in the driveway for a couple hours.  Super great guy.  Sometimes I think cancer is attracted to goodness.

Ed was one of the first people I met from the USMB over 10 years ago.  We made countless deals, shared many stories as well as a love for all things Subaru.  He was as genuine a person as I have ever had the pleasure to meet, I never heard him speak poorly about anyone.  His love for his family was as obvious as his passion for BRATs.  His '84(?) BRAT, license plate BRAT XTC, was his pride and joy. The contributions he made to this board over the years cannot be understated.

Ed, I didn't know that you were suffering.  I wish I had had the opportunity to see you more often during the past few years, but such is life.  I regret not having the chance to say goodbye to you.  From the time we spent together, I can be certain that you were one of the best men that I have had the pleasure to meet.

I hope you are at peace, where ever you may be.

Peace to you my friend. You have finally won your battle against a tired and broken body. All of your life's projects, family, cars, love, friends, generosity, peace, want and need to help others, will forever live on in the lives and memories of the people you have touched.

Bless you my friend, you are finally at peace.

See you again someday...

-Jeff

Ed,

My friend, You will be missed dearly.

Your help will always be remembered and your wisdom treasured.

Your kindness to those of us less knowledgeable and your patience will be carried on by those you taught.

I weep tonight not just because I lost a friend, but because the world lost a great man.

Thank you.

I send my best to Jeanne and your family.

What a truely excellent person! Godspeed Ed !

Our condolences to you Qman and of course his family and all of you who had the pleasure to actually be in his company. Another of the very wonderful people from this Board that often was there to help.

I feel we should dedicate a moment to Ed in some way. Maybe next chance you get you take your Subaru out over some dirt and sling a healthy roost into the air for our MAN , Ed !

A good thought Paul. Maybe the next time someone sees somebody in need. Or someone asks a question. Or needs a part picked up or dropped off. Or just an opportunity to be a nice person. Seize that moment and think of Ed. He would do it, why can't anyone do it? Make somewhere a nicer place. Ed would approve!  :)

This is true. so very  true. I have said it too many times in the past 48 hours.... if I could be 1/2 as sweet and genuine as Ed was, I CAN AND WILL make a difference in the lives of others... and more than likely my own at the same time.

What a wonderful and warm human being.

I will miss him SO MUCH but do treasure every moment we had and every story he told  - not matter how long winded, round-a-about to the end of the tale said story may have been - he did have a lot to share  :D

Ed, you made a difference in the lives of others, had an impact and left a mark.  It is now your time to Rally in Peace my good friend.

It was an honer knowing Ed, a truely decent human.  Condolences to his family and all who were close to him.  Like many here and elsewhere, he's helped me out many a time without ever asking for anything in return, back to the days that I was still a teenager and complete stranger to him.

Ed lived a good and honest life.  If we are rewarded for what we've done here on Earth, he will definitely reap those rewards.  I'm glad to have met him and was lucky enough to be allowed into his inner circle.  RIP Ed.
