Vintage R & D dept. - the Pedal Box issue

Show me your repairs or share your thoughts on this nagging issue. For those clueless , our pedal boxes are notorious for tears in the flimsy sheet metal resulting in loss of clutch operation.

Mine has a well thought out but quite poorly executed repair that seems to have held over the years, I'll get a picture of it. It has a lateral link that goes from the box to the A pillar.

I actually have a rebuilt one for gen 2 wagons, or whatever else it may fit. It has washers welded in.
