I think ill be adding many questions as this goes along and figured i would just consolidate them all in one place. I will start with somthing easy i think. what is this( see pink arrow in picture) and what does it do? there are no wiires attached to it so i dont have a clue

I got a few extra parts that came with, does anyone know what model motor this is EA71 or 81

I don't know what the first picture is. Doesn't look factory. Looks like a voltage regulator but your stock one is going to be over by the battery and has a circular connector. As for the motor, I'd wager it's an EA71. It should be stamped on the block, iirc either in the front or near the heads. May have to take the manifold off to see it.

yeah the voltage reg is on the other side. looks like a relay of some sort and seems to have no use since the engine runs and everything seems to work

looks like a headlight relay for aftermarket lights

That motor is a ea71. It should have ea71 milled on the block between where the block meets the head and the distributor.

Thats the odd part the vehicle has a EA71 in it and its stamped clear as day. This is an extra motor that was thrown in with the deal

Was there once a winch in front? Might be a relay for that reason or ? My 78 wagon has the same relay. It was for a winch.

I've seen a similar relay for the air conditioning system, if it has/had one. A winch relay would likely be a lot larger, closer to an external starter relay.
