Well I saw another that will run but has rod knock.. the thing is i can't find what a decent price is for a used replacement motor The one that has rod knock is $2000 but at least no bumper damage or cracked windshield. The difference between an na engine and a turbo engine is compression and management. You'll have the management already in the car, and the 255 heads will take care of dropping the compression to a very turbo friendly 8.5:1 with a set of .040" cometic gaskets. 86BRATMAN Posted September 11, 2014 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Everything I'm seeing shows the 255 has the same coolant port design as 25d, 251, and 04-07 257. So the same cometic gasket used on your outback would work, don't recall what thickness you used for it, but I recommend the .040" for this application. 86BRATMAN Posted September 11, 2014 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Compression ratio also depends on what head casting the car in question has, there are 2 different castings for the 255, one is a b25 like the STi(55cc), and one d25 which has a smaller chamber volume (51cc). If I was looking for another Legacy at this point, I like the 2005- 06 (early 4th gen) Outbacks- seen a couple nice looking ones in the $4- $5K range.
