skyfox66 Posted May 15, 2004 Share Posted May 15, 2004 Got a 1989 4WD 5spd GL Wagon with several problems that seem to relate to the clutch. 1. It feels like the clutch isn't fully engaging. Already tried adjusting it. Is it suppose to feel loose? (I doubt it.) 2. Dosen't accelerate. You can hear the engine trying but it dosn't move faster than 20mph unless its already been moving for awhile then it jumps to the speed limit fine. After that it has no problems retaining speed until it stops at a light or something. 3. Already tried replacing the clutch cable with no change. It needed a new one anyway, the cable was stretched and it was the original one that came with the car. 4. Also, is there anyway to get to the clutch discs easily? I hear I don't have to take out the transmission but have yet to find anyone that can tell me how without lifting the car off the ground.
