Nick999
Found a nice one for $2699 and it only has 106k miles. Should I jump on it for my winter/offroad car? I'm also wondering where I should start ordering modifications for it, like the tubed front bumper. Thanks guys.
Rooster2
Ask about service records, if available? That model Subie is prone to having the head gaskets go bad. It would be nice to know if they have been replaced, and at what time and millage. I drive an 98 OBW, so I know the car pretty well. They are very reliable, except for the head gasket issue. Prolly a good idea to have a mechanic at a garage inspect the car for issues, if you are not the mechanical type.
porcupine73
At the minimum look to see if it's blowing bubbles in the overflow reservoir while idling after it's good and warmed up such as a test drive. Also is due for the timing belt if it was never done, which is possible. Edited October 22, 2014 by porcupine73

msmithmmx
I have a 98 OBW and it had a bad head gasket at 120K. If I was thinking about buying one from someone I did not know I would. 1) Test drive it for hours maybe even a few days. 2) Have a pro complete a head gasket test. lmdew
Look in the over flow for black oily stuff = Leaking HG Radiator when cold for proper level and clean coolant
