Just had every possible mechanical issue on my 96 Legacy repaired in anticipation of my subi needing to drag a U-haul a couple thousand miles. (btw: anyone renting out a 2 bedroom place in Shoreline WA that will accept my dog, too?)

The Subi dealer service dude told me the cat connector pipe flanges-thingies were rusty and my exhaust system was about to drop off. It would cost $1600 to have it fixed by him, because Subaru would have to replace the entire system. Nice guy, he said to take it to Midas, don't waste your money here. Midas replaced the rusty bits for $120.

Hot doggies!

I went in for my 90K service and the dealer told me I have an exhaust leak and will need to get it taken care of. He told me to go somewhere else too since they would charge a minimum of $1000. Nice to see the dealer trying to help out.

just don't let them do anything with your wheels, we had them do the brakes on our old 78 Ford van one time before we left for a 600 mile trip, and on the way back, after we had driven down this two lane windy as hell road with a 200 foot drop off on one side, we had stopped for ice cream and on the way out one of the wheels fell off. Dad got out and looked and out of the 5 lugs, three were broken off and one was missing, and dad went around and looked at teh other wheels, and one of the other wheels was cracked and two of the lug nuts were loose. Turns out they had put them on with an impact gun and didn't torque the lug nuts, and either they got them too tight or not tight enough, but dad was fumin! CRacked two of his Keystone mag wheels, and they refused to do anything about it too.. So yeah, dad won't go to Midas anymore.

Cheap, yes. Professional, hardly. I had a Midas muffler put on my Legacy about 3 years ago, coz my old one was half in pieces. Because I was poor at the time, I had them clamp the new muffler onto the old axle-back pipe, and they did it crooked. Also the muffler tips already had shown signs of rust when I took it off. I now have a complete 98 Legacy GT stock catback exhaust on my car that I paid less for than the Midas muffler. It looks better than the stock muffler, and a helluva lot better than the ghetto Midas muffler.
