1982--1985 carburetor question

Recommended Posts

The 82 shouldn't have a carter 1bbl, as long as its a 2bbl then it will fit the manifold. But there are variables to this, IIRC they changed choke setups and other little things that you can work around .Your concern will be feedback systems. The feed back system from 82 may not be the same as 85. Iff you dont have emissions where your at odds are good if either car is feedback the system has been worked around/removed. If the 82 is a feedback model you just may not want to mess with it.

Im sure the car has more value to it tho.

being a fl-10 2wd its almost 100% that its a carter-weber one barrel as previously mentioned.  If thats the case you DO NOT want it.  Ive had a few of those carbs and they are garbage.  The hitachi was a much better design.  Not much more power but more reliable.  Your brat should have the hitachi.

NO.

Carter carb was used on 82 model 4wds.

Since they didn't make 4wd sedans in 82 (only 84, and all with hitachis) This one has a Hitachi.

But because it's 2wd it's certainly a Feedback carb.  The carb itself will be identical to the 85 hitachi, other than minor jetting differences.

Not a problem really....Just hook it up as the carb in the 85 is and it should work fine.  Might be jetted a bit lean....made to be riched by the "ECS" duty solenoids restricting the air bleeds.  You could put "orifice" restictions in the air bleeds to get the mixture right or swap jets if you really want.

Did you end up picking this car up?  I tried PMing you but something happened with your response?  If you would like the motor parts id love the rest of the car if that is the only reason you bought it.....
