strange thing that happaned

Recommended Posts

My opinion is that the problem is a fuse but after the replacing of it check the real cause of the problem in the way that i'll tell you: replace the fuse; check if you cannot smell an odour of burned wire;turn on one by one the consumers : lights, then wipers, and so on. Then at the moment that the fuse burns youll find the problematic part. Mantain 6 or 8 seconds between each swich.

There are 4 fusible links on the drivers side fender. They control other functions besides the engine. It wouldnt hurt to check them. All you have to do is feel if the wire is loose inside the sleeve, or a connection is loose. It would also be advisable to check the fuse panel for loose/bad fuses for those functions.

Hi, I'm new here and not a pro when it comes to subies, but I want to throw in my two cents. I went thru the same thing with my 85 Jetta; lost my wipers, blower motor and headlights. It was the ignition swich. I've got an '86 Subaru GL, I bought about 7 months ago. I love it and am now longing for a brat to keep it company.

i have a 86 spfi fwd a/t sedan, i went out to go to work and i had no wipers , clock , cig lighter, washer , i had no time to really look at it , when i left work to go home everything was good ? it must have been a relay ??

I'd start with replacing the fuse. On the inside of your fuse cover panel is a chart. Fuses usually run several devices. I've heard of getting hair line cracks in them. Just replace it :)

Turbone is dead on too with the fusible links. Same deal but a different type of fuse. Up under your hood by your coolant overflow tank is a small black box. Pop the top off and make sure they all look mint, the spade ends are on tight, and they are not broken/burnt in the middle.

Let us know if these dont turn up any results. Could be some other things...
